Botulinum Toxin, commonly referred to as Botox, is a remarkable neurotoxic protein that has the ability to temporarily relax or weaken muscle activity.

We have 2 types of lines on our upper face:
Dynamic lines which are are visible when we make facial expressions like frowning, smiling or raising our eyebrows.
Static wrinkles which are lines that are always there, even when our face is at rest. These lines have been etched in the skin over time.
How it works:
The toxin blocks the transmitting signals between the nerve cells and the muscles. By inhibiting this communication, the toxin prevents the muscle from contracting, leading to a temporary relaxation of the targeted area.
As the muscle activity is reduced, it prevents further static lines from forming and over time can soften the static lines that you already have. The procedure is relatively quick, with minimal discomfort.
It takes up to a week for the effects to start becoming noticeable and maximum results kick in around two weeks after treatment. Please note that a prescription is necessary for your anti-wrinkle treatment.

2. Forehead
3. Crows feet around your eyes
Recommended number of treatments for optimal results:
Initial treatment and a review 2 weeks later, where if needed, a small ‘touch-up’ can be administered. The review is included in the price.
How long do results last for?
The duration of the effects of Botulinum Toxin can vary from person to person depending on how quickly your body metabolises the toxin as well as area treated. On average, the effects of botulinum toxin injections last between three to six months.
To maintain the desired results, it is typically recommended to have Botulinum Toxin injections periodically to sustain the smooth, youthful appearance of the treated area.

Your appointment will start with a consultation to confirm your desired outcome.
The areas being treated will be cleaned with an alcohol swab, and injection points will be marked up. Injections are performed with a fine insulin needle and due to the short time frame needed for the injections and the size of the needle, numbing is usually not necessary.
Before and after photos will be taken.

Normal daily activities can be resumed directly after treatment; however, you must remain upright for 4-6 hours following treatment to prevent the product from spreading to nearby muscles and causing undesired effects.
You may have small lumps at the injection site for a few hours after and there may be some bruising.

If any of the following apply to you, unfortunately you are not a suitable candidate for this treatment:
Pregnant or breastfeeding.
Under the age of 18.
Skin infection in the treatment area.
Blood-thinning medications including aspirin and warfarin.
Aminoglycoside antibiotics.
History of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation.
Botulinum toxin allergies.
Neuromuscular disorders including MS, ALS, Motor Neuropathy Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome.
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
Bell’s/Facial Palsy.
Pacemaker.
Immunosuppressant medication.
Muscle relaxant medications.
Amyotrophic lateralizing sclerosis myopathies.
Uncontrolled diabetes.
Autoimmune disorders including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis.
Sunburn in the treatment area.
Healing disorders including uncontrolled hypertension, haemophilia, or chronic illnesses.

Pre-care instructions:
Ensure your treatment is booked at least 2 weeks before flying or a big event.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours prior.
You may start taking Arnica tablets or apply Arnica gel 2-3 days before, if you wish.
Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen 48 hours prior.
On the day instructions:
Arrive without any make up on the area being treated.
Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.

Please ensure the following aftercare instructions are followed for optimal results and to avoid adverse reactions:
Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours to avoid product migration.
Avoid strenuous exercise/gym for 48 hours.
Do not apply make up for 48 hours.
Avoid laying down for 4 hours after the treatment to prevent productmigration.
Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen for 48 hours. You may use paracetamol if you need to.
Avoid facials and face massages for 2 weeks after to avoid product migration.
Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol and caffeine for 48 hours.
Avoid UV exposure, sun beds, saunas, hot tubs, jacuzzi’s and steam rooms for 48 hours.
Avoid any skincare apart from a mild cleanser for 48 hours.
Avoid strenuous exercise/the gym for 48 hours.
Do not apply make up for 48 hours.
Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol and caffeine for 48 hours.
Avoid hot steamy showers or baths for 48 hours.
Ensure you have changed your pillowcase and use a fresh clean one after your treatment.
Only use a clean towel/washcloth on the area.
Avoid any product getting onto the area for 48 hours (ie: toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner).
Avoid skincare on the area, apart from a mild cleanser for 48 hours.
